Iran: The Sacred Domain
Mashhad al-Muqaddas
Named after the “Place of Martyrdom.”
Shrine of Imam Ali al-Reza (A.S.): The burial place of the 8th Imam. It is a city within a city, featuring massive courtyards (Sahns) and the famous Golden Dome. It is a place of refuge where millions seek intercession.
Goharshad Mosque: Located inside the complex, this 15th-century mosque is a masterpiece of Timurid architecture.
Khwaja Aba Salat & Khwaja Murad: Shrines of two very close and loyal companions of the 8th Imam, located on the outskirts.






Qom al-Muqaddas
Nest of the Prophet’s Family.
Shrine of Bibi Fatima Masooma (S.A.): Sister of Imam Reza (A.S.). A visit here is highly recommended, with Hadith stating visiting her is a gateway to Paradise.
Masjid-e-Jamkaran: Dedicated to the 12th Imam, Al-Mahdi (A.T.F.S.). Pilgrims gather specifically on Tuesday nights to perform the Amaal.
Beit-un-Noor: The humble room where Bibi Masooma (S.A.) spent her final days in prayer.
Musa al-Mubarqa (A.S.): The “Forty Stars” (Chehel Akhtaran) complex where his descendants are buried.






Shiraz: The Third Holy City
Shah Cheragh (A.S.): Burial place of Ahmad ibn Musa, brother of Imam Reza (A.S.). Famous for breathtaking mirror-work making walls look like diamonds.
Sayyed Mir Muhammad (A.S.): Another brother of Imam Reza (A.S.), located near Shah Cheragh.
Ali Ibn Hamzeh (A.S.): Nephew of Imam Reza (A.S.), known for its serene atmosphere and intricate glasswork.






Tehran & Rey
Shah Abdol-Azim (A.S.): Located in Rey. A descendant of Imam Hassan (A.S.). Visiting his shrine is often considered equivalent to visiting Imam Hussain (A.S.) in Karbala.
Imamzada Hamzeh & Tahir (A.S.): Located within the same complex as Shah Abdol-Azim, a powerful spiritual hub.
Imamzada Saleh (A.S.): North Tehran mark, landmark in the Shemiran mountains.
Bibi Shahrbanu (S.A.): Mother of the 4th Imam, located on a rocky hillside near Rey.






Nishapur & Kashan
Qadamgah of Imam Reza (A.S.): In Nishapur, where the 8th Imam reportedly stopped to pray, leaving his footprints in stone.
Imamzada Mahruq (A.S.): Also in Nishapur, the shrine of a martyred descendant of the 4th Imam.
Sultan Ali ibn Muhammad al-Baqir (A.S.): Near Kashan. Son of the 5th Imam. The site hosts the famous “Carpet Washing” ceremony annually.

📍 Daniel-e-Nabi (A.S.) in Susa: The tomb of the Prophet Daniel, featuring its unique conical “pinecone” dome.

Najaf al-Ashraf: Gate of Knowledge
The center of Shia learning and wisdom.
Shrine of Imam Ali (A.S.): Sanctuary of the Commander of the Faithful. Also housing the resting places of Prophet Adam (A.S.) and Prophet Nuh (A.S.).
Wadi-us-Salaam: One of the world’s largest cemeteries, home to thousands of pious souls, including Prophet Hud (A.S.) and Prophet Salih (A.S.).
Specific Makams dedicated to Imam Sadiq (A.S.) and Imam Zain al-Abidin (A.S.).






Kufa: The Ancient Capital
Masjid-e-Kufa: Contains the Mihrab where Imam Ali (A.S.) was struck and shrines of Muslim ibn Aqeel (A.S.), Hani ibn Urwa, and Mukhtar al-Thaqafi.
Masjid-e-Sahla: The future home of Imam al-Mahdi (A.T.F.S.), featuring multiple prophetic Makams.
Also includes the House of Imam Ali (A.S.), and shrines of Khadijah bint Imam Ali (A.S.) and Maytham al-Tammar.






Kazmain: The Two Golden Domes

Dress Code Modesty
- Iran: strictly enforces modesty. Women must wear a chador inside shrines (provided at gates).
- Iraq: maintains high standards. Women must wear a traditional Abaya/Chador to enter shrine complexes.
